Senior Possibility Officer + Indigenous Health Specialist

Nell is a Senior Associate at Practical Visionaries.  Nell has close to 20 years of health sector experience including 10 years with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Nell is currently lecturing in Indigenous Health and supporting the development of an Indigenous Public Health capacity building project at the University of Melbourne. 

After graduating as a Dietitian in 1995, Nell soon realised her passion for community development and reducing health inequalities through addressing the social determinants of health. Nell is dedicated to contributing to understanding and strengthening the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through self-determination, collaboration and participatory action community development principles.

Nell has also worked across a number of sectors for almost 20 years. For example, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for the past 10 years, and with a range of other population groups in her role as Program Leader for Indigenous and Priority Communities at beyondblue.

As Priority Populations Program Manager at beyondblue, Nell was responsible for national initiatives targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, lesbian, gay, bi, trans*, intersex and gender diverse people and people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
